For most projects there are generally two suggested paths. Each path is unique and very specifically tailored to your needs as a business, both immediate and far into the future. A decision to be made after we have compiled your answers will be between one of the following options.
A stand-alone, custom built web application which consists of proprietary software designed and tailored to your needs. This application will be capable of unlimited scaling to provide business functionality throughout the life of your project. You will have the ability to build a custom admin panel, e-commerce solutions, marketing tools, interactive applications – the list is endless. This would require extensive build time and an on-going support service. This is the recommended solution for anyone building an on-line SaaS product or requires specialized tools.
A Wordpress (or other CMS) based website tailored to your needs and worked as closely as reasonable to your design specifications. This would allow for rapid development as well as ease of use for other members of your team to manipulate, build and test different pages/content over-time. This will limit your ability for custom applications and limit the over-all features, however for sites that do not require e-commerce, this could be a good solution. An on-going support solution can be scaled up or down depending on how busy your site is.
